Individual Therapy

Lynn* was driven to achieve.

She graduated from a top university with a double major and a business minor. She was the honor society president and active in numerous other organizations and events.

After college, she got a job in New York at a media agency and was a rising star among her peers. Always the first to arrive and the last to leave. From the outside, Lynn appeared to be the perfect employee. But inside, Lynn constantly felt she and everything she created wasn’t good enough. She feared others would figure out she wasn’t actually what they thought.

Nervous habits like biting the inside of her lip, peeling her nails, knee bounding, and clenching her jaw. She found it hard to wind down at night, so she started drinking wine. When that stopped helping her sleep, she turned to sleep medication. Lynn would become frustrated and resentful of coworkers who didn’t seem to care as much as she did.

Why do they get to leave the office at 6 PM?

She found herself unable to enjoy social gatherings because she felt she always needed to entertain and compare herself to the people around her.

Lynn wants to be the best version of herself, so she just needs to work harder, right?

Lynn is already working extremely hard; it’s something else that needs to change.

So how does therapy create change?

Therapy gives you some distance to see things more clearly.

Imagine you’re looking at yourself in a mirror from a few feet away. You can see yourself with great clarity.

Now, imagine your nose is pressed right up against the surface of the mirror. It’s impossible to see something with clarity when you are too close to it because you can’t see the whole picture.

It’s the same with our thought patterns, emotions, and shortcomings. To really understand them, how they collaborate and conspire together, we need to create some distance to disentangle them to view opportunities for change, growth, and advancement.

Seeing yourself clearly will give you the insight, understanding, and power to make the changes you want to make.

Therapy isn’t just for “those who need help.”

It’s not for “people who have something wrong with them.” Therapy works for very well-adjusted and high-functioning people by creating space for them to see themselves clearly and objectively.

I specialize in helping millennials overcome feelings of anxiety and self-doubt. My clients are high-achieving adults who are driven and have lofty expectations for themselves but find they feel overwhelmed with the weight of their expectations, drive for achievement, fears of failure, and people-pleasing behaviors. They frequently described themselves as overthinkers, perfectionists and feel paralyzed with decision making and beginning projects.

Many of my clients struggle with finding a balance between their lives, ambitions, careers, and relationships.

I teach clients the skills needed to gain control of their thoughts and stop overthinking. I help them build the confidence needed to feel happy in the present and comfortable with themselves around others. Our work together will give you the freedom to make decisions and choices influenced by your goals and not fear.

Let’s work together so you can really see yourself…

As a therapist, I take a hands-on, collaborative approach.

I use an individually customized therapy approach for each client to help you identify and tap into your strengths. I will help you learn to think differently by teaching you about and calling you out on unhelpful thinking styles such as “Black and White” or “All or Nothing” thinking.

I will provide you with the tools and coping skills needed to manage your anxiety, such as breathing exercises and mindfulness practices. I will give you visual aids to help you understand your emotions and short videos to watch to expand your perspective on concepts like vulnerability and courage.

I always show up to each session as my authentic self because I know how important it is to trust and relate to your therapist. I will cheer you on and celebrate your wins with you, and I will sit with you and help you process the hard stuff.

I know firsthand that therapy works, and I am genuinely invested in every client I work with. My approach is collaborative because teamwork makes the dream work, and let’s be honest – no one wants a therapist anymore who just nods and asks, “And how does that make you feel.” At the end of the day, you just want a therapist who gets it, and I get that.

Let’s start the process!

There is no reason to stay overwhelmed.

Together, we can work on getting you feeling better and being the person you want to be.
